Tecpro celebrates 30 years with a special birthday promotion

May 2012 marks Tecpro Australia’s 30th year of providing expert technical solutions across a wide range of industries – and the company is celebrating with a special birthday promotion for customers.

As a provider of specialist technical solutions, it’s little wonder that Tecpro Australia was amongst the earliest adopters of internet technology.

“We were the first in our industry in Australia to establish a website,” said Tecpro Australia’s Managing Director Graeme Cooper. “That was in the very early 1990s and looking back, I guess that was pretty forward thinking for its time.”

The business has evolved significantly since the days it began as Technical Projects in the Castle Hill garage of founder Lester Maino in 1982. Mr Maino was a design engineer who had particular expertise in spray nozzles and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

“From our beginnings, Tecpro Australia has always been very interested in listening to the technical challenges faced by our customers and identifying a way of solving them,” said Mr Cooper. “If we don’t have a ready-made solution in stock, we’ll draw on our industry contacts worldwide to either source a solution or have one made.”

As part of Tecpro Australia’s birthday celebrations, customers who make a purchase during May will automatically be entered in a draw to win one of 30 double movie passes or the major prize of a $2,000 holiday voucher.

“Tecpro Australia a prides itself on its strong customer focus, ethics and honesty,” said Mr Cooper.  “These values have been at the core of the company since it began thirty years ago and they are still just as relevant and important to the company today. We’re interested in providing our clients with exactly what they need, and sometimes this means recommending a cheaper option rather than suggesting something that is more sophisticated and expensive than what’s required.”

Over the years, the company has grown to a staff of 11 and expanded its product range significantly, cementing its reputation as a specialist in spray nozzles, hose reels, dust suppression, tank cleaning and water jet cutting system solutions.

Mr Cooper, who purchased the business from Mr Maino when he retired in 1999, is very proud of how the business has grown and evolved with the times, over the last thirty years. “Lester keeps in touch with us and like me, he’s very pleased to see the business continuing to provide a high level of specialist expertise in a variety of technical solutions all these years on.”

Suppress dust in quarries, mines, construction sites and more with the innovative new Low Pressure Giraffa Industrial Fog Maker

Italian designed and manufactured, the Giraffa is an agile, high performance Fog Maker available in fixed and mobile versions that produces and projects a mass of fine water droplets up to 25 metres.

Giraffa is part of Idrotech’s newest range of products designed to suppress dust in the most challenging of conditions.

“Giraffa features an industrial nebulising system that shoots billions of fine water droplets into the air,” said Graeme Cooper, Managing Director with Tecpro Australia. “With its hydraulic arm and powerful fan, it is capable of propelling the mist a distance of up to 25 metres. This makes it effective in suppressing dust in settings such as mines, quarries, steel mills, waste transfer stations and similar dust-prone environments. It can be used both indoors and outside.”

The size of the water particles generated by the Giraffa is determined by a number of factors including the choice of high or low pressure water pump and nozzle type.  Dust suppression is effective when the dust particles and atomised water droplets are similar in size, making it more likely they will combine and fall to the ground, assisted by gravity.

“When used with a low pressure pump, the water particles produced by the new Low Pressure Giraffa are coarser than those generated by the high pressure version,” said Mr Cooper. “This makes the Low Pressure Giraffa well suited to situations where the dust particles are bigger and where a wetting effect over the ground is also required. Coal stockpiles, demolition sites, and roadways, are a perfect application for this new Giraffa.”

The High Pressure Giraffa produces much finer droplets and is used where the dust is extremely fine. It is also suitable in situations where minimal, if any, wetting of the ground is required, or where evaporative cooling is the desired outcome.

The Low Pressure Giraffa operates at up to 10 bar (145 PSI) and delivers a flow rate range between 5.3 to 40 litres per minute, depending on which size nozzle is used. The high pressure version operates at up to 50 Bar (720 PSI) with a flow rate of 11 litre/min.

“Before recommending the best solution to address a client’s dust problems, we discuss their specific challenges and requirements,” said Mr Cooper. “Every dust suppression application is unique.   Among other information, our suggestions include advising on choice of nozzle sizes and pressure pump type to generate a mist that will match the size of the dust particles being experienced at their site.”

The Giraffa’s cannon mouth has two atomising nozzle rings with a total of 64 nozzles, and a rotation field of 340 degrees. Its hydraulic arm enables it to be positioned up to a very impressive 5 metres in height.

“The Giraffa mobile version can be mounted on a wheeled trolley,” said Mr Cooper. “This gives it the flexibility to be moved about, making it popular for targetting dust problems from variable sources.”

Tecpro Australia distributes the complete Idrotech range which includes the new Low Pressure Giraffa. Enquiries can be directed to the technical team on 02 9634 3370.

High performance filter nozzles in a multitude of sizes make filtration system upgrades simple and cost effective

The full range of Italian designed and made Ilmap nozzles is now available through Tecpro Australia.

Upgrades to all types of filtration systems have become much simpler with the availability of the extensive range of Ilmap Model P Filter Nozzles.

“The arrival of the Model P Filter Nozzles in Australia is great news for those responsible for maintaining filtration systems and water treatment plants,” said Graeme Cooper, Managing Director of Tecpro Australia. “For a start, they’re inexpensive and come in a wide range of specifications to fit virtually every type of installation.”

The Model P Filter Nozzles feature vertical slots ranging in width from 0.25mm to 3mm. There are also eight thread types offered, along with thread lengths from 20mm to 120mm, and stem lengths from 50mm to 450mm.

“By offering such a huge variety of options, we can source a solution to accurately address the requirements of all types of customers,” said Mr Cooper.

The Filter Nozzle Model P is designed for use in sand and anthracite filters. Its fine slots prevent filtering sand entering the nozzles and they are easily cleaned by backwash. Their extremely fine filtration makes them ideal for use in drinking water purification in water treatment plants.

“While we are usually able to replace older filter nozzles with a nozzle from the Model P Filter Nozzle range, occasionally a customer wants to have replacement nozzles custom made to exactly match the existing parts,” said Mr Cooper. “In these types of instances, we are able to arrange to have moulds made to conform precisely with the parts being replaced.”

The team at Tecpro Australia is experienced in guiding and advising on the replacement of all types of filter nozzles.

“We are particularly pleased to offer Ilmap’s Model P Filter Nozzles as part of our extensive range,” said Mr Cooper. “They’re available in glass-filled polypropylene, mineral-filled polypropylene and PVDF to suit different operating conditions. This makes them suitable for a range of operating temperatures up to 135°C.”

Enquiries regarding Ilmap’s Model P Filter Nozzles can be directed to the technical team at Tecpro Australia on 02 9634 3370.

Pigtail nozzles offer clog-free dust suppression

PNR’s Spiral Nozzle – shaped like a pig’s tail – is a powerful ally in the fight against fugitive dust in mines, quarries, recycling plants, building sites and more

The unique design of the PNR Spiral Nozzle makes it ideal for suppressing dust in situations where there is a risk of clogging.

“Because it doesn’t contain an internal swirling vane, fluids can pass through very freely,” said Graeme Cooper, Managing Director of Tecpro Australia, exclusive distributor of the PNR range in Australia and New Zealand. “This means that this type of nozzle easily tolerates the flow of dirty recycled water, which is often used in dust suppression.”

The PNR Spiral Nozzle atomises fluid into fine droplets which is dispersed in a full cone pattern.

“The fluid hits the spiral blade and fans out in a circular pattern,” said Mr Cooper. “Because this nozzle has a relatively large internal chamber, it poses little resistance. This means that the nozzle is much less likely to clog up, compared with conventional nozzles.”

The pigtail design used in the PNR Spiral Nozzle has been used successfully in a variety of environments over several decades.

“Apart from being used for dust suppression, it is also highly effective in fire protection, evaporative cooling and other situations where a fine vapour is needed and there is a risk of clogging,” said Mr Cooper.

Tecpro Australia offers a wide range of dust suppression solutions including fog makers and low pressure, high pressure and ultrasonic products. The company also offers an on-site consultancy service to guide and advise clients on the best choice of dust suppression system to suit their environment.

“Every situation is completely different,” said Mr Cooper. “We draw on several decades of experience in making our recommendations to eliminate the dust problems being experienced by our clients.”

Tough and tolerant tangential nozzles are easy to install

As the exclusive Australian and New Zealand distributor of the PNR range, Tecpro is pleased to offer the easy-to-fit PNR Tangential Nozzle that suppresses dust in even the most challenging conditions.

Manufactured from tough glass filled polypropylene, the PNR Tangential Nozzle is durable and effective in suppressing fugitive dust in a range of environments.

Its large internal chamber makes the nozzle clog-free in most applications, making it suitable for use even with dirty recycled water.

“Its off centre spray chamber design produces fine droplets, even with large volumes of water being used,” said Graeme Cooper, Managing Director of Tecpro Australia. “The micro-sized water droplets that are produced are similar in size to the dust particles, making it easier for them to combine and fall to the ground aided by gravity. This makes the PNR Tangential Nozzle ideal for dealing with dust problems in many settings such as underground and open cut mines, quarries and recycling plants for example.”

A key advantage of the PNR Tangential Nozzle is the availability of a matching clamp, enabling it to be quickly installed to spray bars.

“It is simply a matter of drilling a hole in the water pipe.  The hinged clamp goes over the pipe, a spigot fits into the hole and is sealed by an O-ring. A single stainless steel screw is used to lock the clamp together. ” said Mr Cooper. Because it’s such a straightforward installation, it saves a lot of time and labour costs.”

Both the nozzle and clamp are made of corrosion resistant, glass reinforced polypropylene. This also makes them cost effective to manufacture.

“The PNR Tangential Nozzle tolerates a certain amount of matter in the water,” said Mr Cooper. “This makes it a fuss-free choice when it comes to selecting an effective dust suppression solution.”

The technical team at Tecpro Australia is experienced in advising on all aspects of dust suppression. An on-site dust suppression consultancy service is also available. Enquiries about their products and services can be made by phoning 02 9634 3370.

Long-time tank washer favourite now even better

Tecpro Australia News Release – November 2011

The UK produced Breconcherry Fury 600 has produced outstanding tank cleaning results over many decades. The updated version – the Fury 602 – introduces new benefits and brings it firmly back into the limelight once again.

New Fury 602 Tank Cleaning HeadThe Breconcherry Fury 600 tank washer been used extensively in the brewing, distilling, dairy, food and beverage industries over many years. Famous for its compact design and unique, low-speed piston mechanism, it produces high impact, long-range jet cleaning, guaranteeing highly effective cleaning impingement.

The recently introduced Fury 602 combines all of these sought-after features with an improved nozzle tube and nozzle design. It offers a wide cleaning radius, delivering powerful jet cleaning in large and very large tanks.

“We presented the Fury 602 at the Foodpro Expo in July,” said Graeme Cooper, Managing Director of technical solutions experts, Tecpro Australia. “Many visitors to our stand told us the Fury 600 had delivered years of reliable service. Because of its dependability, they were keen to continue using it, and were interested to see the enhancements included in the Fury 602.”

The Fury 602 produces the highest impact force of any jet washer. Its efficient piston-operated mechanism is driven by only 5% of the wash water, allowing an incredible 95% to pass directly to the nozzles. “This maximises jet impingement and wash rate,” said Mr Cooper. “It also reduces the tank’s down time and minimises effluent costs.”

The versatile Fury 602 offers 360º or 180º up, or 180º down wash patterns. The two nozzles oscillate through 90º while the mechanism continually indexes around a central axis. Lightweight and compact, it can be used on a mobile basis or installed permanently in the tank.

“One of the best features of the Fury 602 is that it is entirely self cleaning,” said Mr Cooper. “And because it does not have high speed turbines or complex gear systems, it suffers very little wear and requires minimal maintenance or servicing.”

The Fury 602 has a 1.5” BSP connection and requires a minimum manhole/flange opening of 200mm for unit insertion. At a pressure of 10 Bar, it has a cleaning radius of 13m and wetting radius of 17m, and is suitable for working temperatures up to 120º C. A video of the Fury 602 in action is available at http://tecpro.com.au/cleaning-heads-breconcherry/

“The fact that the Fury has been in use for several decades says a lot about its quality and effectiveness,” said Mr Cooper. “The new enhancements that have been introduced in the Fury 602 make a great product even better.”

Easy-to-use, high-pressure barrel cleaner extends the life of wine barrels

Tecpro Australia News Release – October 2011

Tecpro is pleased to introduce the M28E from PA Italia, which offers highly effective cleaning with the added benefit of automatic siphoning and a specially designed holder to secure the unit in place.

Barrels used in wine production are expensive and have a limited life span, partially due to the gradual build of tartrates that can crystallise on the surface over time.

The arrival in Australia of PA Italia’s much-applauded M28E high pressure cleaner is a welcome solution to this kind of problem.

“Many people in the wine industry would be aware of M28E’s predecessor, the popular M25E,” said Graeme Cooper, Managing Director of technical solutions experts, Tecpro Australia. “The M28E improves upon the M25E by the introduction of a flexible terminal as part of the siphon pipe, to ensure complete fluid extraction in barrels of varying shapes and sizes.”

By being able to remove all the cleaning solution or rinse water, the barrel is cleaned faster and with greater effectiveness.

“If fluids remain in the barrel during the cleaning process – which is often the case with non-siphoning systems – it lessens the impingement force that can be achieved,” said Mr Cooper. “This means that in this situation, the effectiveness of the clean can be significantly compromised.”

In contrast, the M28E simultaneously extracts the fluid in the barrel as it cleans, ensuring maximum surface impingement. “It’s also common for many types of wine barrels to only have an opening at the top,” said Mr Cooper. “By automatically removing any cleaning fluids or rinse water through its integrated siphoning feature, the M28E eliminates the need to invert the barrel to drain residual fluids.”

The M28E’s orbital spray delivers a high-impact 360 degree clean ensuring all surfaces are reached. Its specially designed holder secures the cleaner in place, making operation of the unit much simpler and more stable.

“The M28E is very easy and uncomplicated to use,” said Mr Cooper. “Its shortened, L-shaped head means it requires less space, making it suitable for all types of working environments.”

Because its body is made entirely from stainless seal it is ideal for use in all types of wine or food manufacturing processes, according to Mr Cooper. “And by being able to blast the interior of the barrel clean, the interior is able to be taken back to the bare wood, extending its lifetime significantly.”

The team at Tecpro Australia are experts in advising on the most appropriate cleaning system to match your requirements. For more information about the M28E and Tecpro’s complete range of specialist nozzles, visittecpro.com.au.

Big Fog Maker generates a buzz at AIMEX

Tecpro Australia News Release – September 2011

The Italian-designed ELEFANTE Fog Maker made its Australian debut at AIMEX and drew quite a crowd.

Tecpro Australia’s stand at the Australian International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX) in September attracted much attention with its range of specialist dust suppression solutions, including the ELEFANTE Fog Maker which appeared in Australia for the first time.

“We operated the ELEFANTE a couple of times each day,” said Graeme Cooper, Managing Director of Tecpro Australia. “It blew a large plume of fine mist which drew quite a crowd. A by-product was that visitors also enjoyed the cooling effect it created during the hot weather!”

Two representatives from Idrotech, maker of the ELEFANTE, were on hand to answer technical questions about it, as well as about Idrotech’s complete range of specialist dust suppression nozzles. “The ELEFANTE is capable of spraying an ultra-fine mist up to 60 metres, propelled by a powerful fan on which three concentric nozzle rings are mounted,” said Mr Cooper. “It is ideal for use in suppressing dust over a larger area and around stockpiles.”

The ELEFANTE has an easy-to-use control panel, or optional remote control, and can be easily set to automatically traverse backwards and forwards through a rotation angle of up to 340 degrees. The elevation angle can also be readily adjusted from -20 to +45 degrees.

“Another advantage with the ELEFANTE is that it does not cause problems associated with water pooling or runoff, because the water droplets are so small that they evaporate very quickly,” said Mr Cooper. “It is a very flexible solution as it can be moved and placed in position wherever dust suppression is needed.”

Both the ELEFANTE Fog Maker and the smaller version, the GIRAFFA Fog Maker are available in either a low pressure (10 Bar) or a high pressure (50 Bar) version. They each have a range of nozzle sizes so that the fine droplets produced can be sized to best suit a particular dust suppression situation.   “For example, with a stockpile dust suppression application it would be better to use nozzles which will have a slight wetting effect,” said Mr Cooper. ”Whereas inside a building, nozzles that produce droplets so fine that there is no residual wetting would be the suitable choice.”

At AIMEX, Tecpro also showcased a unique fan, to which had fogging nozzles had been fitted. This created a 360 degree, horizontal plane of dry fog.

“A manager of a foundry was interested in this technology as a means of cooling the foundry workplace which can get very hot,” said Mr Cooper. “The nozzles could be installed just below the ceiling and blow the fog sideways above the work area. This would have the effect of cooling the internal temperature, and because the water droplets are only 10 micron, they evaporate almost instantly. This means that the area is cooled but not made wet.”

These nozzles, mounted on Idrotech’s Mist Fan 360, can reduce ambient temperature by around 9 – 10 degrees Celsius, depending upon the temperature and humidity levels.

“They work most effectively in a temperature setting between 26 – 45 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of 40 – 80 per cent,” said Mr Cooper. “They can be used indoors or outdoors for evaporative cooling purposes in a variety of settings.”

Tecpro has been busy following up the many customers who visited their stand at AIMEX. “It was great to have so many of our existing customers call by,” said Mr Cooper. “We were also very pleased to welcome many other visitors who had not heard of Tecpro previously.”

Tecpro welcomes enquiries from customers who are interested in trialling the ELEFANTE or GIRAFFA fog makers or wish to discuss dust suppression problems.

Italian designed fog maker on display for the first time in Australia

Tecpro Australia News Release – August 2011

Tecpro Australia is pleased to present the Idrotech ELEFANTE fog maker at the upcoming AIMEX event in September.

Elefante Fog MakerRepresentatives of the mining and construction industry who are responsible for controlling fugitive dust should ensure they visit the Tecpro Australia stand at the Australian International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX).

“We’re very pleased to be showcasing Idrotech’s ELEFANTE fog maker,” says Graeme Cooper, Managing Director, Tecpro Australia. “This will be the first time the ELEFANTE has been shown in Australia and we’ll also have representatives from Idrotech on hand to answer questions about it as well as their other specialist dust suppression products.”

The ELEFANTE features a powerful fan on which three concentric nozzle rings are mounted. It sprays an ultra-fine mist across large areas, with a throw length of up to 60 metres.

“The ELEFANTE is especially effective in environments such as open-cut coal mines and construction sites,” says Mr Cooper. “This is because the size of the mist droplets and dust particles are similar, enabling them to combine more easily and fall to the ground due to their combined weight.”

Apart from reducing occupational and health and safety risks, the ELEFANTE also helps to avoid environmental damage caused by fugitive dust harming the local environment or entering waterways.

“The fog droplets that ELEFANTE generates are so fine that they evaporate quickly and therefore do not cause problems of water pooling or run off,” says Mr Cooper. “And because it can be supplied mounted on a wheeled trolley or fitted to a concrete base or trailer, it can be placed wherever dust needs to be suppressed.”

The ELEFANTE uses water pressure of 10 bar through 156 nozzles, and the flow rate varies from 14.8 litres per minute to 87.6 litres per minute, depending on the particular nozzle size fitted. The unit requires 400v-50Hz power and uses 11 Kw of energy.

“For small areas such as conveyor transfer points or around crushers for example, Idrotech has high pressure nozzles that can be mounted around the perimeter of the area to suppress the dust,” says Mr Cooper. “But for larger areas, fog makers are often more effective as they can project the dust-controlling mist or fog a distance 60 metres with the ELEFANTE and 25 metres with Idrotech’s smaller GIRAFFA.”

Mr Cooper reports that Tecpro has already received several enquiries from customers who are keen to see the ELEFANTE at AIMEX. These customers have been interested in using the ELEFANTE for dust suppression in road construction, demolition, quarries and mining.

Tecpro is also fielding enquiries from customers who are interested in purchasing the display model ELEFANTE at a discounted price.

NEW Revolutionise the way you clean your agitator tanks and ribbon mixers with a Breconcherry CW75

Tecpro Australia News Release – August 2011

At Foodpro, Tecpro Australia presented the unique Breconcherry CW75, an ingenious conical wash head system for targeted cleaning of difficult to reach areas.

The Breconcherry CW75 features a specially modified Turbodisc wash head for use in agitator tanks and ribbon mixers, where it is undesirable or impossible to use fixed or retracting spray heads.

“Until now it has often been necessary to waste large amounts of time and water by completely filling mixing tanks to clean hard to reach areas such as the undersides of agitator blades,” said Tecpro’s Managing Director Graeme Cooper.  “The CW75, can however, be installed to spray the undersides of blades and other difficult to reach areas directly. This dramatically reduces water wastage and cleaning downtime, without interfering with the processing area or product path.”

Welded into appropriate positions on the outside of vessels, the recessed CW75 wash heads remain clear of rotating blades and scrapers while generating a powerful cone of fast moving, high impact droplets focused on target areas.

Like all Turbodisc wash heads, the CW75 is entirely self-cleaning. “It features a 360° spray pattern inside a conical housing, which enables it to be entirely submerged in product and still be rinsed clean by the wash when in operation,” said Mr Cooper. “It requires minimal maintenance and is designed to remain fixed and ready for operation on the outside of the tank. Should cleaning or maintenance ever prove necessary however, the simple clamp mechanism allows the CW75 to be easily disassembled.”

The CW75 complies with the highest standards of hygiene for the food industry. Its surface finish is mechanically polished to 0.8 microns and the unit is available in 316/316L stainless steel, pure PTFE or Carbon-filled PTFE. Requiring a minimum flow of 100 L/min at 4 bar pressure, it has a throw length of 1 m and a wash circle 1 m in diameter at 1 m from the wash head. It connects with a 1” clamp ferrule at the CIP inlet and requires a 3” weld end where the cone housing meets the vessel.

“The Breconcherry CW75 solves the problem of cleaning hard to reach areas in agitators and ribbon mixers cheaply and efficiently,” said Mr Cooper. “Our team enjoyed showing it to the many interested people at the recent Foodpro Exhibition at Darling Harbour. It was obvious to those who looked at the CW75 that it provides an innovative and unique solution to many of their difficult to reach cleaning problems.”

Economical washdown gun RB35 50˚C makes light work of cleaning

Tecpro Australia News Release – June 2011

Tecpro Australia is pleased to announce its introduction of a new, low cost ergonomic washdown gun for use in temperatures up to 50˚C.

The arrival of the RB35 50˚C in Australia is great news for those looking for a tough, lightweight and comfortable washdown gun at an affordable price.

“It is less expensive than the RB35 80˚C because its spindle is manufactured from brass instead of stainless steel, and the internals are made from a different type of plastic” says Graeme Cooper, Managing Director of Tecpro Australia. “This makes it much more economical, yet it is highly effective in situations where the washdown process uses cold or lukewarm fluids up to 50 degree Celsius.”

The Italian made and designed RB35 50˚C washdown gun is hardwearing and constructed of shockproof glass filled polypropylene.

Created with user comfort in mind, its ergonomic design also protects the hands from knocks to the knuckles as operators wash around equipment.

“Being lightweight with an easy to manoeuvre plastic trigger, it’s comfortable for users to work with for extended periods,” says Mr Cooper. “It delivers a targeted pencil or cone spray, adjustable from the trigger to suit a variety of uses.”

The RB35 50˚C is completely enclosed which prevents dirt penetration. This makes it safe and hygienic in all types of food, pharmaceutical and chemical industry applications.

Its plastic housing is non-stainable and includes three silicone protection rings that give it its shockproof properties. It has a half-inch BSPF swivel inlet.  Maximum flow rate is 50 litres per minute and maximum pressure rating is 12 bar.

“In the past, people complained that washdown guns were too heavy and tiring for the users,” says Mr Cooper. “It’s therefore great to be able to offer this lightweight alternative that also comes with a very market friendly price.”

The team at Tecpro are experts in advising you on the ideal washdown gun to suit your needs and budget.

Tecpro launching innovative Dust Suppression Solutions at AIMEX

Tecpro Australia News Release – June 2011

Tecpro Australia will unveil innovative new dust suppression products for the mining industry on Stand R176 during AIMEX – Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition 2011, to be held at Sydney’s Olympic Park, Homebush, from September 6-9.

On show for the first time in Australia will be the Elefante and Giraffa fog makers from Italian company Idrotech SrI.  They are ideal for suppressing dust which is being generated a long distance away and/or is spread over a large area.

The 2.4m-high Elefante uses a powerful fan to shoot billions of small water droplets into the air and projects them a distance of up to 60 metres. The direction of the plume of mist can be fixed to go in a certain direction or can be set to automatically rotate backwards and forwards through an arc of 340 degrees. The fan diameter is 660 mm.

The droplets are produced by 156 misting nozzles mounted in 3 spray rings on the exit from the fan, and the nozzles can be sized to suit the dust suppression/water requirements of a particular application.

The smaller Giraffa offers  the same advantages and is great for suppressing dust or neutralizing odours on mine sites, building sites, and other open spaces, or inside large buildings, Graeme Cooper of Tecpro said.

Depending on the model, the Giraffa can reach a maximum height of 5 metres and can project a plume of spray up to 25 metres.  It has a rotation angle of 340 degrees with an elevation range of   -20 deg to +45 deg, and uses 64 nozzles mounted in 2 spray rings to produce the mist. The fan diameter is 410 mm.

“Using the Idrotech Fog makers makes it simpler to comply with various environmental requirements as, by suppressing fugitive airborne dust over a large area, they minimise the dispersion of dust to neighbouring areas, thereby reducing dust pollution.”

Two Idrotech product specialists from Europe, Tommaso Gazzignato and Marco Ferrarese, will be on the Tecpro stand at AIMEX. Both are highly experienced with Idrotech’s high-pressure dust suppression products, including the Elefante and Giraffa fog makers and will be ready to discuss visitors’ dust suppression problems.
Tecpro will also use AIMEX to highlight:

  • The Idrotech range of high pressure dust suppression misting nozzles and pumps which are suitable for mounting around crushers and conveyor transfer points where minimum water volume is to be used to suppress fugitive dust.
  • A lightweight washdown gun – light at 440gm but heavy duty and ergonomic – for all types of cleaning tasks.  Has a ½” BSP Swivel inlet.
  • A red washdown gun – red rather than conventional blue, with the colour acting as a visual warning for workers that a particular hose is carrying hot water. Has a ½” BSP Swivel inlet.
  • The Ramex range of heavy duty, stainless steel, spring retracting hose reels

NEW Clean large size vessels with Turbo SSB 125 slotted spray ball

Tecpro Australia News Release – June 2011

Tecpro Australia has expanded its range of rotating spray heads with the introduction of the Turbo SSB 125, designed to clean medium to large vessels and manufacturing equipment.

The Breconcherry Turbo SSB 125 is the latest addition to Tecpro’s comprehensive range of specialist tank cleaning solutions. Fitted with a 1.25” BSP female connection, the Turbo SSB 125 generates a stronger impingement force with a cleaning throw length of five metres at 4 bar.

“The Turbo SSB 125 can powerfully clean vessels up to ten metres in diameter,” says Graeme Cooper, Managing Director of Tecpro Australia. “This capability means it will be of tremendous value to those working in industries where larger scale, thorough cleaning is critical.”

Tecpro Australia will display the Turbo SSB 125 at the upcoming Foodpro event at the Sydney Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour from 10 – 13 July.

“It will be great to be able to show customers our complete range of tank cleaning heads at Foodpro,” says Mr Cooper. “And with the Turbo SSB 125 being new to Australia, we’re sure there will be a lot of interest in it.”

The Turbo SSB 125 works by using a slow, constant rotation, which allows longer chemical dwell times and improved cleaning action. It also features high impact fan jets that cut down on cleaning time.

As with the other smaller-sized Turbo SSB heads, the new 125 version has the same unique hydraulic bearing design with no ball bearings. “ The fact that it does not contain ball bearings prolongs its life and also eliminates the risk of contamination caused by degradation of bearings,” says Mr Cooper. “This low wear design requires minimal maintenance, with no spare parts required.”

The drive chamber contains a unique pressure regulation system that helps to keep the rotation speed consistent under differing pressure, meaning the fan jets work more effectively due to their better jet peripheral velocity.

Constructed from Stainless Steel 316L, PTFE, or C-PTFE, the Turbo SSB 125 has a 360º spray pattern. It allows a maximum liquid temperature of 95º centigrade and a maximum ambient temperature of 140º centigrade. Wash fluid is directed through the slots on the rotating ball, making it ideal for burst rinsing or prolonged, strong impact washing.

“The Turbo SSB 125 has a cleaning radius of 5 metres at 4 bar, whilst for simply wetting a tank surface, the radius is eight metres at 4 bar,” says Mr Cooper. “Its low speed, high volume slotted spray ball design means it conforms with the highest standards of hygiene and purity making it suitable for a large number of applications across the pharmaceutical, biotech, food and beverage industries.”

Tecpro Australia will feature the Turbo SSB 125 at Foodpro, display stand W16, Sydney Convention Centre, Darling Harbour from 10 – 13 July.

NEW Economical Turbo SSB 40 Nozzle Cleans Powerfully in Small Places

Tecpro Australia News Release – May 2011

Cleaning IBCs and small tanks has just become much easier with Tecpro
Australia’s introduction of the affordable Turbo SSB 40 spray head.

In the past, it’s been difficult to source spray heads purpose-built for industrial cleaning of small tanks and vessels such as intermediate bulk containers (IBC’s). This has meant that many people have opted for less-thorough cleaning methods, or resorted to spray heads that are too large for the job.

“The arrival in Australia of the Turbo SSB 40 nozzle is great news for those looking for an economical low pressure spray head for cleaning IBCs and the like,” says Graeme Cooper, Managing Director of Tecpro Australia. “Its compact design and slotted spray ball delivers a powerful cleaning action that will be valuable in a wide range of applications.”

Designed and manufactured in the UK, the Turbo SSB 40 does not contain ball bearings. This has the effect of reducing maintenance requirements and extending the unit’s life. The potential for contamination caused by degradation of bearings is also eliminated as a result.

“The Turbo SSB 40 features highly efficient fan jets which cut down on cleaning time,” says Mr Cooper. “And by operating efficiently using a low flow rate, it saves on water, chemical and effluent costs too.”

The drive chamber contains a unique pressure regulation system that helps to keep the rotation speed consistent under differing pressure. The Turbo SSB 40 is particularly suited in low flow, low pressure applications where slow and steady rotation is required to enable longer chemical dwell times.

“For a small tank washer, the Turbo SSB 40 has a strong range,” says Mr Cooper. “It performs high impact cleaning to a distance of 2.5 metres and has a wetting radius of over 4 metres.”

The Turbo SSB 40 has a 3/8″ BSP female connection and is constructed from Stainless Steel 316L, PTFE and C-PTFE. It performs best with 3-4 bar pressure at the wash head but also performs well with 2 bar pressure.

“At just 83mm high and 30mm wide, the Turbo SSB 40 fits into very compact spaces,” says Mr Cooper. “It’s ideally suited for applications where strict levels of hygiene are required such as pharmaceutical, biotech, food and beverage industries.”

Dust Suppression on a wide scale creates a safer environment for mines, quarries, rubbish tips and more

Tecpro Australia News Release

Tecpro Australia is proud to announce the introduction of the ELEFANTE Fog Maker to its range of industry- leading dust suppression systems.

Elefante Fog MakerThe ELEFANTE fog maker, produced by award winning Italian company Idrotech S.r.l is ideal for large scale dust suppression.

Three concentric nozzle rings produce a mist of water particles which are propelled by a powerful fan a distance of up to 60 metres.

“The ELEFANTE creates a much more healthy work environment” says Graeme Cooper, Managing Director of Tecpro Australia. “It suppresses fugitive airborne dust in large open areas and also minimises the transfer of dust to adjoining site, thereby reducing dust pollution.”

The fog maker is particularly useful for suppressing dust that is difficult to control using other methods. “In many cases it is difficult to mount sprays close to the area where the dust is being generated, ” says Mr Cooper. “However a fog maker can be placed up to 60 metres away, and with the plume of fog directed at the source of the dust, it can be suppressed.”

The Fog Maker can be supplied mounted on a wheeled trolley, or it can be fitted to a concrete base or to a trailer. It uses water pressure of up to 10 bar through 156 nozzles, and the flow rate varies from 14.8 litres per minute to 87.6 litres per minute, depending on the particular nozzle size fitted. The unit requires 400v-50Hz power and uses 11 Kw of energy.

The Fog Maker has a rotation angle of 320° and elevation of -20° to +45°. Air volume from the Fog Maker is 28.500 m3/h. The height of the ELEFANTE is 2.4 metres and the fan diameter is 660mm.

“Not only can the ELEFANTE be used for dust suppression, but by dosing the water with a deodorising chemical it can be used to neutralise odours in garbage disposal site, and can even be used too cool large outdoor recreation areas because of the evaporative cooling effect of the fine droplets” says Mr Cooper. “If offers substantial advantages to operators at a wide range of work sites.”

Finer droplets generated by CAY cluster nozzles produces big improvements in dust suppression at recycling plant

Tecpro Australia News Release – June 2010

Traditional methods of dust suppression proved ineffective for a building material recycling plant. Tecpro Australia collaborated with Jeff Hill Plumbing to create a solution that surpassed the site operator’s environmental obligations.

cluster spray nozzleDust suppression is a critically important consideration in many types of industries including construction, mining, agriculture and manufacturing. Without appropriate measures in place, dust particles can pose serious respiratory health risks to people in the vicinity.

Airborne dust also creates significant pollution problems in neighbouring areas.

A building material recycling plant in Sydney had tried several traditional methods of dust suppression but found them unsatisfactory. Existing nozzles were often ineffectively located and the water droplets produced were too big to suppress dust particles.

A new solution was required to prevent dust being carried by the wind onto adjoining properties.

Tecpro Australia engineers worked with Jeff Hill of Jeff Hill Plumbing, and suggested the installation of low flow, CAY cluster nozzles on the site. CAY cluster nozzles were recommended because they produce a mass of very fine water droplets. And whilst the nozzles contain an inbuilt filter, Tecpro suggested improvements to the water filtration system to further enhance reliability and effectiveness.

The CAY cluster nozzles were deployed at conveyor drop off points and on the primary crusher drop cute. Installed in a single line, they form a highly effective screen of mist.

“Cobra Head” deflection fan nozzles were also installed to wash conveyor belts and to wet the product, where it was possible and practical to do so.

Dust disturbance in vehicle movement areas had been suppressed using water carts. This option was however, expensive,  and it also created site safety problems. To reduce dependence upon water carts, an economical “Skipper” water cannon was deployed. It can be set to sweep and wet a selected arc, and with a throw length of 35 metres, it only needs to be turned on for very short periods to suppress dust over a large area.

The introduction of the CAY and Cobra Head nozzles and Skipper Water Cannon, significantly improved dust suppression on site, well exceeding the site operator’s obligations.

The team at Tecpro are experts at finding the ideal dust suppression nozzle for your needs and budget.

New Fury 404 Tank Cleaning Head

Tecpro Australia News Release – October 2009

The trusted design and proven performance of the Breconcherry Fury 400 Tank Cleaning Head is now even better with the release of the new and improved Fury 404 by Technical Projects.

Breconcherry Fury For many years the Fury 400 has been the preferred Tank Cleaning Head for process vessels, food and beverage storage tanks, transport containers and chemical reactors.

Its compact design and unique piston operated mechanism produces high impact, long-range jets which guarantee effective surface coverage and high impingement.

The NEW Fury 404 takes advantage of recent high-precision manufacturing advances to ensure even greater efficiency and durability.

The Fury 404 produces the highest impact force of any jet washer. Its efficient piston operated mechanism is driven by only 5% of the wash water, allowing an incredible 95% to pass directly to the nozzles. This maximises jet impingement and wash rate, reducing down time and minimising effluent costs. With no turbines or complex gear systems the Fury 404 suffers very little wear and requires minimal maintenance or servicing.

The versatile Fury 404 offers 360º or 180º Up or 180º Down wash patterns and is available with 2 or 4 nozzles.  The nozzles oscillate through 90º while the mechanism continually indexes around a central axis. Lightweight and compact, it can be used on a mobile basis or installed permanently in the tank.

It has a 1” BSP connection and requires a minimum manhole/flange opening of 120mm for unit insertion (225mm for 4 nozzles). At a pressure of 12 Bar, the Fury 404 has a cleaning radius of  8.5m and wetting radius of 12.5m. It is suitable for working temperatures up to 120º C.

With the Fury 400 already used extensively in the brewing, distilling, dairy, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, coatings, nuclear, and transport industries, the new and improved Fury 404 is an ideal replacement wherever rigorous standards of hygiene and product purity are essential.
